Ponto Controverso Podcast, Episode 1.

INSTITUTIONAL

It failed because it decided too late. Blockbuster didn't fail because of Netflix. It failed because it decided too late.

That's what the first episode of Ponto Controverso, the Petereit Advogados podcast, is about. I sat down with my partners Tayssa Botelho, Natália Alves and Bruno Brum to talk about the most delicate moment of any corporate crisis — which isn't the crisis itself, but the decision that keeps getting put off.

The starting point is a real case: the closing of a textile company with thirty years of history. From there, we go behind the scenes of a mass layoff of 120 employees, the risks of a partner being held personally liable in tax enforcement proceedings, and what happens to a poorly structured family business when a crisis comes knocking.

This isn't a technical episode for lawyers. It's an episode for business owners and managers who, right now, feel a decision being pushed to next week — and who still have time to act before the problem decides for them.
